Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth store operations while delivering outstanding customer experiences. Your duties will include:
1. Sales and Customer Service Excellence
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets by engaging customers and promoting products
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to enhance customer satisfaction
- Assist customers with product inquiries, recommendations, and purchases
2. Store Operations and Merchandising
- Ensure effective merchandise replenishment to keep shelves fully stocked
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, including proper product displays and cleanliness
- Assist with store layout implementation to optimize product visibility and sales
3. Stock and Asset Management
- Follow correct stock administration procedures, including markdowns and laybys
- Help protect company assets (stock, cash, equipment) by adhering to security policies
- Assist in stockroom organization to ensure efficient inventory control
4. Team Collaboration and Compliance
- Follow company policies and procedures to maintain operational efficiency
- Handle stressful situations calmly while maintaining professionalism
Requirements and Skills
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate – A must
- Previous retail/sales experience – Customer service skills are essential
- Strong communication skills – Ability to engage with customers and team members effectively
- Computer literacy – Basic knowledge of retail systems is beneficial
- Attention to detail – Ensures accuracy in stock handling and store presentation
- Ability to work under pressure – Retail can be fast-paced; staying calm is key
- High integrity and initiative – A proactive attitude is highly valued
