What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll be handling a variety of tasks to ensure each customer leaves with a smile. Here’s a snapshot of your responsibilities:
- Manage Transactions: Use cash registers to process transactions quickly and accurately, ensuring that every customer’s purchase is recorded properly.
- Scan Goods: Efficiently scan items and verify that pricing is correct, ensuring a seamless checkout process.
- Collect Payments: Handle payments, whether cash or credit, and manage transactions with care and precision.
- Issue Receipts and Refunds: Provide receipts for purchases, issue refunds, and manage exchanges according to store policies.
- Redeem Stamps and Coupons: Process stamp and coupon redemptions, offering customers the best value for their money.
- Promote Products: Cross-sell and introduce new products to customers, helping them discover additional items they may need or want.
- Handle Complaints: Address any customer complaints or concerns with professionalism, offering solutions and guidance to ensure their satisfaction.
- Greet Customers: Warmly greet customers as they enter and exit the store, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Maintain Checkout Areas: Keep the checkout area clean and organized, ensuring it remains a pleasant space for both customers and staff.
- Track Transactions: Monitor and record transactions on balance sheets, promptly reporting any discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.
- Package Goods: Bag, box, or gift-wrap purchases as needed, adding a personal touch to each transaction.
- Assist as Needed: Provide support in other areas of the store as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
What We’re Looking For
- Educational Background: A Grade 12/Matric certificate is essential. Your educational background should provide a solid foundation for handling various tasks and responsibilities.
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills are crucial. You should be able to interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, creating a positive shopping experience.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is key when managing transactions and handling payments. You’ll need to be meticulous in checking prices, issuing receipts, and tracking transactions.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to resolve customer complaints and handle various issues effectively will contribute to your success in this role.
- Organizational Skills: Keeping the checkout area tidy and maintaining accurate records requires strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Flexibility: Being willing to assist in other store areas and adapt to varying customer needs will be an asset.
