Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring our store operates smoothly while creating an exceptional shopping experience for every customer. Your responsibilities will include:
Leadership & Team Development
- Guide and mentor your team, setting a strong example in sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer service.
- Train and motivate team members to enhance their selling skills, ensuring they are confident in recommending products.
- Manage staff schedules efficiently to meet business needs while maintaining a positive work environment.
Customer Experience & Sales
- Welcome and engage customers warmly, offering personalized beauty advice and recommendations.
- Drive sales by inspiring your team to meet and exceed daily and monthly targets.
- Create excitement in-store by promoting new products, trends, and special offers to encourage repeat visits.
Visual Merchandising & Store Presentation
- Maintain high visual standards, ensuring the store is beautifully presented with well-stocked displays.
- Keep the sales floor tidy, clean, and fully replenished to enhance the shopping experience.
- Ensure all products are correctly priced and labeled for easy customer access.
Stock & Operations Management
- Monitor stock levels and minimize losses by following effective inventory control procedures.
- Assist with stock takes, investigate discrepancies, and report any concerns to the Area Manager.
- Adhere to point-of-sale and banking procedures, ensuring all transactions are handled accurately.
Store Compliance & Efficiency
- Follow company policies and procedures to maintain operational excellence.
- Execute daily tasks efficiently, from opening/closing routines to promotional setups.
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive resolution.
What We’re Looking For
- A Matric / Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of retail experience, preferably in a supervisory role within cosmetics or beauty retail.
- A genuine passion for beauty products, with knowledge of skincare, makeup, and industry trends.
- Strong leadership skills—you enjoy coaching and motivating a team.
- Excellent customer service skills—you love interacting with people and making their shopping experience memorable.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude—you’re willing to step in wherever needed.
- Flexibility—you can work retail hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Basic computer skills, including email and Excel (for scheduling and reporting).
- The ability to stay calm under pressure—retail can be fast-paced, but you handle challenges with a smile.
- Physical stamina—you’re comfortable standing for long periods and demonstrating products.
