What Does an Artisan Aide Do?
At Exxaro, this involves a variety of tasks, from inspecting equipment to assisting with technical repairs. Here’s what you can expect to do:
- Assist Skilled Artisans – Support artisans in mechanical, electrical, and welding work.
- Perform Inspections – Conduct first-level inspections on machinery and equipment to identify potential issues early.
- Fault-Finding – Carry out basic troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Maintenance Tasks – Participate in both scheduled and reactive maintenance activities to ensure machinery remains reliable.

- Technical Support – Carry out welding, cutting, and installation of refractory work when required.

Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 10/Standard 8 Technical qualification (essential).
- AET Level 4 certification (essential).
- Experience:
- At least 1 year of relevant technical support experience in a heavy industry environment (essential).
- Assessments & Certifications:
- Psychometric assessment conducted by Exxaro (essential).
- Certificate of Fitness conducted by Exxaro (essential).
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to conduct first-level inspections and basic fault-finding.
- Experience in welding, cutting, and refractory work.
- Knowledge of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance practices.
- Other Competencies:
- Commitment to safety practices and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities as an Artisan Aide at Exxaro Matla Coal will include:
