Artisan Fitter Job Vacancies at Tsebo Facilities Solutions

If you’re a skilled fitter with a strong mechanical background, this opportunity at Tsebo Facilities Solutions in Rustenburg, North West, could be exactly what you’re looking for. The position of Artisan Fitter (Talent Pool) is more than just another job posting—it’s an invitation to join one of Africa’s most respected integrated workplace management providers.

As an Artisan Fitter, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems that keep entire buildings functional—from heating and cooling to pumps, pipelines, and hydraulic equipment. By keeping these systems safe and reliable, you’re directly contributing to workplace safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Unlike many technical jobs that can feel repetitive, this position offers daily variety. You’ll face new challenges, troubleshoot different systems, and interact with both clients and team members—all while applying your trade skills to real-world, meaningful work.

About Tsebo Facilities Solutions

Tsebo is not just another facilities management company. The group is active in multiple service lines—catering, cleaning, pest control, protection, energy, procurement, workspace design, remote camp services, and engineering.

Employees aren’t just workers; they are seen as the foundation of the company’s success. By investing heavily in staff development, Tsebo ensures that its teams are not only skilled but also deeply aligned with the needs of clients. For an Artisan Fitter, this means you won’t just be fixing machines—you’ll be part of a culture that values expertise, teamwork, and continuous growth.

Core Responsibilities of the Artisan Fitter

1. Maintaining Mechanical Systems (Planned & Preventative)

This means performing both scheduled maintenance and proactive inspections to prevent unexpected breakdowns. You’ll manage daily job cards, prepare your tools and PPE ahead of time, and ensure all mechanical equipment—pumps, pipes, HVAC systems—stay in top condition.

2. Handling Breakdowns

No matter how good the maintenance, breakdowns happen. When they do, you’ll be on the frontline, responding quickly, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions. Using techniques like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and the 5 Whys method, you’ll not only fix problems but help prevent them from happening again.

3. Mechanical Compliance & Safety

In any engineering environment, compliance is non-negotiable. You’ll inspect and test systems to ensure they meet all safety regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure proper handling of tools and PPE. Your role directly supports Tsebo’s Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) policies.

4. Supervision & Support

Depending on project needs, you may also supervise junior staff, contractors, or external vendors. This includes checking inspection registers, signing off work cards, and ensuring all stakeholders follow procedures. Being a mentor and leader is part of the responsibility.

The call centre has reported an issue: a water pump in the resort’s lake system is malfunctioning. As the Artisan Fitter on site, you’ll:

  1. Investigate the pump system using pressure gauges and hydrostatic testing.
  2. Identify that a bearing has worn out.
  3. Execute the repair by replacing the bearing, securing fittings, and ensuring everything is properly aligned.
  4. Test the system again before handing it back into service.
  5. Document the entire process for future reference.

By noon, you might shift to preventative maintenance, inspecting HVAC systems in the conference centre to avoid future breakdowns. By the afternoon, you could be mentoring an Artisan Aid, teaching them how to safely secure pipe fittings.

Every day offers something different—but every day adds value to the team, the client, and the guests using the facilities.

Challenges You’ll Tackle

  • Fast-moving environments: Facilities like Sun City or hospitals require quick responses.
  • Weather and conditions: Outdoor systems like lake pumps or sprinkler systems need maintenance in all conditions.
  • Complex teamwork: Coordinating with supervisors, contractors, and clients requires communication skills as much as technical expertise.
  • Keeping up with technology: From advanced HVAC controls to automated monitoring systems, staying current with innovations is key.

These challenges make the work dynamic, but Tsebo provides the resources and training you need to succeed.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems—hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, reservoirs, bearings.

  • Good time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in hospitality environments, where client expectations are high and downtime is not tolerated.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum N3 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Completed apprenticeship and Trade Test as a Fitter.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in fitting and welding.
