Job Overview

As an Assistant Maintenance: Electrical, your primary purpose is to assist skilled artisans and technicians in maintaining, repairing, and improving plant and equipment. Your work will help minimize downtime, ensure operational efficiency, and support the production team in achieving high-quality results. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Assist artisans and technicians in executing preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and resources are available to perform maintenance efficiently.
  • Perform small repair projects under supervision, following the guidance of qualified personnel.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to improve equipment reliability and reduce the risk of unexpected failures.
  • Support root cause analysis by providing accurate information and assisting in implementing corrective actions.
  • Perform repairs on electrical equipment and components, ensuring compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards.
  • Maintain workshop and work area housekeeping, keeping tools and materials organized and accessible.
  • Actively identify and report hazards, helping to mitigate risks and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and company procedures, escalating hazards that cannot be immediately resolved.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Electrical Trade Test Certificate.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance as an assistant.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including fault-finding and component replacement.
  • Understanding of electrical components such as PLCs, VSDs, and motors.
  • Ability to work hands-on with machinery, remove and fit components under guidance.
  • Experience using workshop tools and machinery (e.g., grinders, drill press, pipe benders).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions from artisans and technicians.
  • Awareness of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) practices in a manufacturing environment.
