Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Millwright at Exxaro, your responsibilities will include:

- Performing routine maintenance, inspections, fault-finding, and repairs on plant infrastructure and production equipment
- Programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting circuits, electrical panels, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Safely operating and maintaining medium to high voltage switchgear
- Planning maintenance tasks and ordering required parts to prevent production delays
- Coordinating maintenance activities with operators to minimise downtime
- Conducting risk assessments and enforcing safe working practices, including PPE usage
- Inspecting tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe and proper functionality
- Accurately completing maintenance documentation and job cards within required timelines
- Transferring technical knowledge and mentoring artisan aides and trainees to improve skills and competency
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Standard 10 Technical qualification
- N3 qualification in a relevant engineering field
- Recognised Millwright Trade Certificate (MQA or QCTO)
- 2–3 years relevant technical and maintenance experience in heavy industry, production, mining, or pyro-metallurgical environments
- Competency in medium voltage switching
- Completion of Core MQA Modules and On-the-Job MQA Module assessments
- Proven proficiency in programming circuits, panels, PLCs, and related equipment
- Valid Code B (Public) driver’s licence
- Psychometric assessment (to be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (to be conducted by Exxaro)
