Duties and Responsibilities of a YES Learner (Merchandiser)

As a YES Learner (Merchandiser), your day-to-day responsibilities will focus on ensuring that Clover products are visible, well-presented, and properly managed in-store.

Stock Control and Inventory Management

You will be responsible for applying correct stock control measures in-store and in back-up areas where Clover products are handled. This includes monitoring stock levels, minimizing returns, and accurately documenting any returned stock according to store work plans. Preventing out-of-stock situations is a key priority, and any issues must be reported promptly to the Area Manager.

Accurate and timely ordering of stock according to the agreed ordering tempo will form part of your responsibilities, ensuring consistent product availability for customers.

Shelf Packing and Merchandising Standards

Maintaining clean, neat, and attractive product displays is a core part of the merchandising role. You will pack shelves according to store flow guidelines provided by the Area Manager while applying basic merchandising principles. This includes ensuring that shelves are correctly set up according to provided planograms or generic shelf layouts.

You will also ensure that product information labels are accurate and visible at all times, contributing to a professional in-store appearance that supports sales performance.

Equipment and Point of Sale Management

Learners will be responsible for proper crate and equipment control in line with company policies. This includes maintaining refrigeration units where Clover products are stored, ensuring fridges are clean, functional, and properly stocked.

You will also place and maintain point-of-sale materials in allocated positions, ensuring promotional materials remain visible and in good condition.

Administration and Reporting

Basic administrative duties form part of the role, including record-keeping related to stock, returns, and merchandising activities. Accuracy and attention to detail are important, as this information supports operational planning and sales execution.

Relationship Management and Customer Interaction

Building and maintaining positive working relationships is a critical part of this role. You will interact regularly with store management, Area Managers, Head Office representatives, customers, and fellow merchandisers. Professional communication and teamwork are essential to ensure smooth operations and a positive brand presence in-store.
