Johannesburg Water is seeking 10 qualified Artisan Welders to join our maintenance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability of municipal water and sewer infrastructure through expert welding and fabrication services.

Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Installation
- Manufacture and install specialized water system components including:
- Pipeline fittings (Y-pieces, T-pieces, collars)
- Structural elements (manhole covers, step ladders, guide rails)
- Repair clamps and reinforcement brackets
Maintenance & Repairs
- Execute emergency repairs on burst water mains and sewer lines
- Perform scheduled maintenance on municipal infrastructure
- Conduct weld repairs on pipes ranging from 100mm to 1.5m diameter
Safety & Compliance
- Strict adherence to OHASA and SANS safety standards
- Daily inspection and maintenance of welding equipment
- Proper risk assessment for confined space entry
Administration & Reporting
- Accurate completion of work orders and job cards
- Submission of daily vehicle inspection reports
- Weekly progress reporting to workshop foreman
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 10 or N1 qualification
- Valid Welder Trade Test Certificate
- 3+ years experience with large-diameter pipelines
- Code 10 Driver’s License with PrDP
Preferred:
- Experience in both gas and arc welding techniques
- Basic supervisory capabilities
- Municipal maintenance experience
