Ipelegeng Transport Trust is currently seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the role of Driver Conductor within our Traffic Department. Key Responsibilities: Driver Conductors
As a Driver Conductor, you will be entrusted with several important tasks that are central to the smooth operation of our transport services. These include, but are not limited to:
- Ticket Issuance: You will be responsible for issuing tickets to passengers, ensuring that all transactions are handled accurately and efficiently.
- Fare Collection: Your duties will involve collecting fares from passengers, maintaining a balanced cash flow, and ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded.
- Revenue Management: You will manage the money collected during operations, ensuring it is securely handled and accurately accounted for.
- Customer Interaction: Promoting a positive company image through courteous and professional interaction with the public is a key aspect of this role. You will need to provide assistance to passengers and handle any inquiries or issues that may arise during your shift.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all safety regulations are adhered to during the operation of the vehicle, and that passengers are informed of and comply with these regulations.
Working Conditions
You will be working under Ipelegeng TT conditions, which are designed to ensure both the safety and well-being of our employees. This role may require working flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, depending on operational needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A minimum educational requirement of Grade 10 is necessary.
- Licensing: You must possess a valid EC, EC1, 0.4, or C driver’s license, as well as a valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) that is not due to expire within the next six months.
- Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience in heavy-duty driving is essential. Previous experience in bus driving is highly advantageous.
- Health: Excellent driving and medical records are mandatory. Applicants must have a clean bill of health, particularly regarding eyesight and overall physical fitness, as these are critical for safe driving.
- Background: A clear criminal record is required for this position, as the role involves handling cash and interacting with the public.

- Knowledge:
- A deep understanding of the bus passenger industry, including standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, ensuring that all operations comply with health and safety regulations.
- An understanding of company disciplinary procedures, which helps in maintaining professional conduct at all times.
- Skills:
- Driving Skills: Excellent driving skills are required, including the ability to handle heavy-duty vehicles safely.
- Time Management: You must be able to manage time effectively to ensure that routes are completed according to schedule.
- Pressure Management: The ability to work under pressure, especially during peak hours, is crucial.
- Problem Solving: You should be able to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent planning and organizational skills to ensure that all duties are performed efficiently.
- Attributes:
- Availability to work non-standard hours, which may include weekends and holidays.
- The ability to work well with others to ensure the smooth operation of services.
- A strong focus on safety to protect both yourself and passengers.
- Precision in all aspects of the role, from fare collection to interaction with passengers.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in dealing with passengers and resolving any issues that may arise.
