The Role
We’re seeking a Code 10 Driver to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for traveling to various farms to perform essential dry-cleaning duties in chicken houses, adhering to our standard operating procedures. Expect to be on the road for about 80% to 90% of your working hours, operating independently and contributing to the cleanliness and efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Traveling: You will drive to different farms each day, executing dry-cleaning tasks in chicken houses after the chickens have been caught. This role requires a high level of independence and self-management.
- Dry-Cleaning Procedures: Following our established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is crucial. You’ll perform dry-cleaning from start to finish, ensuring all processes are executed effectively.
- Documentation: Completion of necessary paperwork, including pre-dry-cleaning checklists, is vital to ensure that all machinery is in proper working order before you begin.
- Maintenance: After your shift, you will secure the chicken houses to prevent unauthorized access. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for filling up the diesel in the cleaning machine to prepare it for the next day.
- Mechanical Support: Some basic mechanical skills will be necessary, as you may need to perform minor repairs on the equipment when required.
- Collaboration: Engage with GFC Contract Growers on-site. Your ability to communicate effectively, particularly in Afrikaans, will be key to building good working relationships.
Requirements
- Education: A minimum of Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Licensing: A valid Code 10 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Experience: Previous experience in dry-cleaning chicken houses is essential, along with a solid understanding of their layout.
- Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical ability is important to address any minor repairs or issues that may arise.
- Communication: Strong client interaction skills are essential, particularly in engaging with both internal and external customers in Afrikaans.
- Flexibility: A willingness to work overtime, including weekends, is necessary.
