Job Overview
As a Code 14 Driver for VKB Milling, it will be your duty to ensure that our superior goods are delivered on time and effectively. This role requires more than just driving; it involves ensuring that products arrive safely and that customers are consistently met with friendly, professional service. You’ll be crucial to maintaining the reputation of VKB by handling goods with care, adhering to company procedures, and representing our values on the road.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Delivery and Customer Service
- Ensure on-time delivery of VKB’s Super-Sure products to customers, with a focus on maintaining and expanding sales volume through excellent customer service.
- Be a positive and professional representative of VKB during all customer interactions.
- Truck and Equipment Maintenance
- Keep assigned truck in top condition, ensuring it’s always neat, clean, and well-maintained.
- Complete daily vehicle checklists, promptly report any defects, and communicate with the fleet controller or supervisor.
- Safety and Incident Reporting
- Report any incidents or accidents immediately to management, following company protocols.
- Prioritize safety on the road and ensure compliance with VKB’s safety standards at all times.
- Document Control and Organization
- Manage necessary documentation, including PODs (Proof of Delivery), fuel slips, toll receipts, and trip sheets. Ensure all PODs are signed, stamped, and accounted for before handing them in.
- Control fuel consumption by following the company’s standards and tracking fuel usage.
- Stock and Crate Management
- Maintain accuracy during loading and offloading of stock and crates to prevent any discrepancies.
- Monitor stock and tray counts on each delivery and ensure 100% accuracy.
- Crew Management
- Manage any crew assigned to the truck, fostering teamwork and collaboration to maintain a positive work environment on each delivery trip.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in driving, with a proven track record in the consumer goods or related field.
- Licenses and Certification:
- A current driving licence bearing a Code 14 and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Other Requirements:
- Numerical ability and basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as per the scheduled roster.
- Unblemished criminal history to guarantee dependability.
