Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Cleaning: Your primary task will be to ensure that all areas including toilets, office spaces, equipment, and state property are cleaned to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for daily cleaning tasks as well as occasional deep cleaning duties.
  • Efficient Use of Materials: You’ll need to use cleaning materials and equipment effectively and efficiently, ensuring that resources are utilized properly and wastage is minimized.
  • Daily Maintenance: Clean the reception area and offices every day, making sure that these areas are welcoming and presentable.
  • Waste Management: Empty office dustbins daily and manage refuse by disposing of it in the designated bins for collection. You’ll also be responsible for collecting paper waste in marked bins for recycling.
  • Bathroom Care: Ensure that bathrooms are checked and cleaned twice a day. This includes restocking supplies and maintaining hygiene standards.
  • Furniture and Carpets: Dust office furniture regularly and vacuum carpets at least twice a week to ensure they are free from dust and debris.
  • Window Cleaning: Clean windows from the inside on a quarterly basis, rotating this task as needed to ensure all windows are maintained.
  • Equipment Storage: Store all cleaning equipment and products neatly in designated cupboards on each floor, ensuring that everything is organized and

accessible when needed.

  • Meeting Preparation: Assist in setting up the boardroom for meetings, ensuring the space is clean and organized to facilitate smooth and professional gatherings.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements specific to the site, in line with company policies and relevant legislation. This includes following safety protocols and using cleaning products responsibly.
  • Team Morale: Contribute to a positive work environment by maintaining high standards of morale and motivation through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Flexibility: Be prepared to assist with additional duties that may fall outside the regular scope of responsibilities. This may include tasks as needed to support the team or address specific cleaning challenges.

Skills and Competencies

  • Communication: Strong communication skills are essential. You should be able to interact effectively with team members and other staff, providing updates and addressing any concerns that arise.
  • Hygiene Knowledge: Basic knowledge of general hygiene practices and the proper use of cleaning products and equipment is important. Understanding how to maintain a hygienic environment is key to this role.
  • Facility Layout: Familiarity with the layout of the facility will help you navigate efficiently and complete your cleaning tasks effectively.
  • Cleaning Techniques: Ability to use various cleaning equipment and products is required. This includes understanding how to operate vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and other tools.
  • Literacy and Communication: Basic literacy skills are necessary for understanding and following cleaning protocols, recording maintenance issues, and communicating with others.
  • Flexibility: A willingness to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and public holidays, is essential. This flexibility ensures that cleaning needs are met at all times.
  • Local Preference: Preference will be given to candidates from the local area where the office or position is based, as this can help with timely and consistent attendance.

Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum of Grade 11 is required, with proven experience in a similar role. A Grade 12 Certificate will be advantageous and may strengthen your application.
