The George Municipality is looking for four dedicated and qualified individuals to join our team as Traffic Officers. Salary Range:
R 284,064 – R 368,700 (T10), depending on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Requirements:
- Completed Grade 12 (Matric)
- A recognized basic traffic officer qualification
- A valid Code EB driver’s license
- Clean criminal record
- Firearm proficiency
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in traffic enforcement or related fields
Physical Requirements:
As this role involves physically demanding duties, candidates must be physically fit and able-bodied.
Preferred Requirements:
- The position requires flexibility as Traffic Officers work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays on a 24/7 rotational schedule.

Functional Competencies:
Traffic Officers will be responsible for a range of critical functions, including:
- Patrolling: Monitoring roads and highways to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
- Enforcement: Taking action against those violating traffic regulations, including issuing fines and warnings.
- Emergency Response: Responding to road accidents and other incidents promptly, offering assistance and managing the scene.
- Public Transport Offences: Enforcing regulations related to public transport services.
Public Service Competencies:
- Interpersonal Relationships and Client Focus: Build positive relationships within the community while providing excellent service.
- Service Delivery Orientation: Prioritize the needs of the community and contribute to efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out the duties outlined in the National Road Traffic Act and the Criminal Procedure Act.
- Attend and respond to road accidents, providing immediate support and reporting the incident.
- Educate the public and schools on road safety, contributing to community awareness and safety.
- Regulate traffic during peak hours and in cases of congestion.
- Conduct speed enforcement checks and other necessary traffic control measures.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations to ensure your safety and the safety of the public.
- Attend both internal and external training as required to stay updated on traffic laws and enforcement techniques.
Special Conditions:
- You must be willing to work shifts, including nights, weekends, public holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are essential for dealing with difficult situations in a calm, professional manner.
- You will need to communicate fluently in at least two official languages spoken in the Western Cape.
- Decision-making skills and the ability to stay composed under pressure are crucial in this role.
Probation Period:
New employees will be subject to a 6-month probation period to assess their suitability for the role.
