Purpose of the Role
As a SHE Representative, your primary responsibility is to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. You’ll assist the SHE Officer in monitoring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and implementing safety protocols. Your focus will be on identifying potential hazards, ensuring the implementation of safety measures, and promoting a culture of safety across the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Hazard Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor hazardous situations in the workplace, making recommendations to management to mitigate risks and prevent unsafe conditions.
- Safety Measures: Develop and enforce safety measures to protect employees from injuries and ensure safe use of equipment.
- Incident Prevention: Take immediate action to stop unsafe practices and correct hazardous conditions. In case of emergency, lead the response and manage activities to protect people and property.
- Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act 85 of 1993) guidelines and other safety regulations.
- Incident Investigation: If accidents occur, investigate thoroughly by interviewing witnesses, reviewing footage, and collecting evidence to prevent future occurrences.
- Safety Training: Conduct regular safety training sessions and ensure that all employees are aware of the company’s safety policies and procedures.
- Emergency Response: Take charge during emergencies, ensuring all team members are following safety protocols and that responses are well-coordinated.
- Site Safety Audits: Inspect work sites for potential hazards, ensuring that safety signs are clear and visible, and that all equipment is safe for use.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of any workplace incidents, ensuring reports are submitted to relevant authorities. Prepare reports on accidents and violations, identifying their causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Tool and Equipment Management: Ensure all tools and equipment are in safe working order and properly maintained.
- Permit-to-Work Compliance: Monitor the activities under the Permit to Work system to ensure compliance with laws, standards, and safety requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on safety regulations and ensure the workplace is fully compliant with OSHA standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of OHS legislations and procedures
- Familiarity with hazardous materials, safety audits, and incident investigation
- Data analysis and reporting skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear guidance on safety matters
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel regularly (with own reliable vehicle) to Service Level Agreement (SLA) sites for SHE audits and pre-installation walkdowns

Additional Information
- You will work closely with our Quality Management team to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and support the development of OHS policies and programs.
- You must be willing to travel frequently to various sites for audits, inspections, and safety assessments.
