Job Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a SHE Officer at our Isando location. In this critical role, you will ensure that all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) activities are conducted in full compliance with company standards, regional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all relevant regulatory requirements. Your work will be pivotal in safeguarding our workforce and ensuring that our operations run smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
As our SHE Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our safety standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of all fire fighting and suppression equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- PIMAD Participation: Lead and participate in the Preparation, Implementation, Monitoring, Audit, and Review (PIMAD) process to continuously improve our SHE practices.
- Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed fire reporting records, ensuring all incidents and near misses are documented and investigated.
- Incident Investigation: Thoroughly investigate all safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Risk and PPE Assessments: Conduct comprehensive Safety, Risk, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments to ensure the safety of all employees.
- Site Audits: Perform regular site safety, health, and environmental audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Environmental Monitoring: Monitor and measure environmental receptors, maintaining accurate records of safety and emergency equipment.
- Permit Management: Assist in the production and management of Permits to Work, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and hazard identification processes.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with all license, permit, and authorization conditions, and ensure that environmental sampling is conducted as required.
- Waste Management: Oversee waste management processes to ensure safe and environmentally friendly disposal practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Matric and a National Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Science Management.
- Certifications: SAMTRAC certification and relevant Fire Prevention qualifications. ISO 14001:2015 and/or ISO 45001:2018 training is highly desirable.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a similar role, preferably within the chemical and petrochemical industry.
