Job Overview:
As a Service Technician Apprentice based in Spartan, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our Technical Service Team within the Service and Applications department. Your role will be hands-on, assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our specialized packaging systems across Southern Africa. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment, where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Assist in installing specialized packaging equipment at various industrial and food manufacturing facilities throughout Southern Africa. This involves working directly with customers to ensure proper setup and functionality.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Provide technical services for planned maintenance of customer equipment. Be prepared to handle breakdowns and resolve issues efficiently. This may require working weekends and after hours.
- Customer Liaison: Act as a technical advisor, communicating with customers to diagnose problems and provide solutions. Your role will involve extensive interaction with customer technical staff to ensure their needs are met.
- Spare Parts Management: Handle ordering of spare parts and manage all related documentation. Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and ensure their availability.
- Reporting and Documentation: Generate technical service reports to identify deviations and recommend corrective actions. Your focus will be on ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and maintaining a positive cost coverage.
- Collaboration: Work closely with strategic partners, including service technicians and external customers, to enhance cooperation and deliver effective solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical Qualification: A recognized qualification as an Electrician or Artisan, or actively pursuing one.
- Experience: Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, and PLC systems is beneficial.
- Driver’s License and Passport: A valid Code 08 driver’s license and a valid South African passport are required for extensive travel.
- Personal Attributes: We’re looking for someone with high energy, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage time effectively and work well within a team.
- Flexibility: The role may involve overtime and weekend work, so flexibility is important.
