About the Learnership Programme
This Engineering Learnership is designed to develop the next generation of skilled artisans for South Africa’s mining industry. The goal is to provide successful applicants with structured, accredited training in a variety of key trades. Upon successful completion, learners will be fully qualified artisans equipped for long-term employment.
If you’re selected, you’ll participate in an intensive programme combining theoretical instruction with hands-on practical training. You will also benefit from exposure to real mining environments, equipment, and processes, under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Learnership Trade Options Available
Applicants may apply for one of the following artisan disciplines:
- Boilermaker
- Fitter
- Electrician
- Auto Electrician
- Diesel Mechanic
- Instrumentation Mechanician

Minimum Entry Requirements
To be considered for this life-changing opportunity, candidates must meet the following educational qualifications:
Option 1:
- Grade 12/Matric with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science, each with a minimum of an E symbol (40%).
OR
Option 2:
- N2 Certificate with at least 4 trade-related subjects, including the relevant trade theory applicable to your chosen field. See examples below:
Important: Subjects with F symbols will not be accepted.
Other Requirements and Key Attributes
To succeed in this programme, candidates must:
- Be willing and physically fit to work in a mining environment.
- Demonstrate strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and reliability.
Additional Advantages (Not Mandatory)
- Prior experience in a mining environment
- A valid K53 Driver’s License
- Residency within the Khutala host communities (proof of residence required)
