Key Responsibilities
As a Security Official at SARB, you will perform the following duties:
- Access and Egress Control: Manage entry and exit points to ensure secure access to SARB facilities.
- Guarding and Patrolling: Conduct regular patrols, provide escort services, and guard designated areas to prevent unauthorized activities.
- Threat Response: Identify, assess, and respond promptly to security threats, emergencies, and suspicious activities.
- Security Systems Management: Monitor and optimize the use of security systems, equipment, and alarms to maintain operational readiness.
- Emergency Preparedness: Participate in evacuation procedures and conduct emergency drills to ensure swift action during critical situations.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records through report writing, electronic occurrence books, and pocketbooks.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively enhance your knowledge and contribute ideas for improving security practices and protocols.
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- Matric or NQF 4 qualification.
- PSIRA Grade C qualification.
- Valid firearm competency certificate for handling 9 mm pistols, semi-automatic rifles, and shotguns.
- It is necessary to have a grade 12 certificate or an equivalent NQF 4.
- Comprehensive understanding of security-related legislation, including:
- National Key Points Act (NKP) 102 of 1980.
- Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000.
- Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977.
- Knowledge of SARB policies and procedures related to firearm use.
- High levels of medical, psychological, and physical fitness.
- Strong professionalism, discipline, and ability to work long hours.
- Availability for shift work, including weekends and as required by operational needs.
