About the Learnership Programme
This is a 12-month accredited learnership programme designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a professional chef. Successful candidates will work towards completing the National Certificate in Professional Cookery (NQF Level 4) through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical training at the Wild Coast Sun.
This learnership forms part of Sun International’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment in the hospitality and tourism sector.

What You’ll Learn and Do
As a Professional Cookery Learner, you’ll be exposed to the daily operations of a real commercial kitchen. Your training will cover:
- Preparing and presenting a variety of food dishes
- Food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness practices
- Understanding nutritional values and meal planning
- Effective use of kitchen tools, ingredients, and equipment
- Adapting to various shifts, including weekends and public holidays
You’ll also participate in workplace assignments and practical tasks that help build your confidence and culinary ability.
