Your Role as a Forklift Driver
As a Forklift Driver at Nestlé, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our manufacturing and distribution processes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Transporting Raw Materials and Products: Safely and accurately move stock from trucks to warehouse storage bins or production areas, and from storage bins to loading bays for delivery.
- Utilizing Technology: Operate RF Scanners and capture all movements using the SAP system to ensure accurate tracking and inventory management.
- Quality Control: Take samples from bins and other storage units for sensory and chemical tests, and record semi-finished product data through our Quality Management System (QMS).
- Sensory Evaluation: Participate in hourly sensory sessions and input results through our Sensory Evaluation Management System (SEMS).
- Monitoring Production: Record production activities and stoppages using the Stoppage Analysis Module (SAM), and perform daily inspections of empty tote bins before use.
- Stock Management: Assist with bin stock counts and perform ad hoc duties as required by your superiors.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to local laws and company policies, striving for zero accidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in our continuous improvement culture through the Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) approach.
- Forklift Maintenance: Conduct daily and weekly inspections of the forklift, recharge or refuel as needed, and assist with routine maintenance and hygiene procedures.
- Support Operations: In the absence of the Niro Operator, you will operate lines, monitor and record operational parameters, and initiate corrective actions. Assist in unblocking the tower during blockages and remove all sweepings/rework bags.
- Report Issues: Report any abnormalities or breakdowns through our tagging system and inform the Team Leader or engineering department.
- Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time to support the team and operations.
What We Are Looking For
- Educational Qualification: A Matric Certificate.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Licenses: A valid Forklift License.
- Skills: Proficiency in operating a forklift is essential for this position.
