Job Summary

As a General Worker, you will contribute directly to the smooth operation of our workshop by performing essential cleaning and maintenance tasks, supporting artisans, and ensuring that tools and equipment are well cared for.

Key Responsibilities

As a General Worker, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Workshop Maintenance: Sweep floors, clean drains and pits, and maintain cleanliness of work levels and machines.
  • Tool Care: Clean and maintain tools allocated to artisans, and report any lost, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993), including proper handling of materials and maintaining a hazard-free workspace.
  • Support Tasks: Assist artisans and supervisors as instructed, ensuring all tasks are executed efficiently.
  • Physical Duties: Lift, carry, and move workshop materials and equipment safely while maintaining physical fitness.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members, demonstrating dependability and a positive attitude.

This role requires a hands-on, proactive approach, ensuring that workshop operations run smoothly and safely every day.

Required & Preferred Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Physical fitness and good health, with the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects.
  • Dependability, trustworthiness, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in providing cleaning services within a workshop or industrial environment is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with basic health and safety standards in a workshop environment.
  • Good communication skills to report issues, lost tools, or maintenance needs effectively.
