Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Driver with Alert Afinta – Krugersdorp Midas, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and timely delivery of goods to our valued customers. You will be an essential part of our team, helping to maintain the trust and satisfaction of our clients. Here’s a closer look at what your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Vehicle Inspections: Before you hit the road, you’ll conduct thorough pre-departure inspections of your vehicle. This means checking everything from the tires to the engine to ensure the vehicle is in top condition. Any issues or errors you spot must be reported immediately to the Dispatch Supervisor. This isn’t just about safety; it’s about making sure every delivery is smooth and hassle-free.
- Loading Procedures: You’ll work closely with the supervisor to verify that all parcels are correctly checked and loaded into the vehicle according to our New Dispatch Loading procedure. This attention to detail ensures that our customers receive exactly what they ordered, every time.
- Timely Deliveries: You will be responsible for delivering parcels along your designated route, adhering strictly to the route schedule and trip sheet. Efficiency is key here—getting the right goods to the right place at the right time is what keeps our customers happy and coming back for more.
- Proof of Delivery (POD) Compliance: Ensuring customer adherence to the POD procedure is critical. You will collect all necessary documents and collection slips for each delivery and make sure these are properly signed off. Any discrepancies must be reported to the Dispatch Supervisor immediately.
- Accountability: Upon returning to the branch, you’ll be responsible for signing in your trip sheets with the POD clerk. It’s essential that all documents assigned to your name are complete and returned promptly the following day. Any outstanding trip sheets are your responsibility, and you’ll be held accountable for any issues related to missing PODs.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Maintaining the cleanliness and operational efficiency of your vehicle is another key part of your role. Any problems or concerns regarding the vehicle must be reported to the Dispatch Supervisor without delay.
- Problem Solving: If you encounter any issues during deliveries—whether related to the vehicle, customer satisfaction, or delivery schedules—you’ll report them to the Dispatch Supervisor promptly, ensuring that problems are addressed quickly and effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: A minimum of a Grade 12 certificate.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a delivery role, where punctuality and reliability were paramount.
- Licensing: A valid driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is essential for this position.
- Time Management: You must have strong time management skills, ensuring that deliveries are completed efficiently and on schedule.
