The Role: General Store Assistant
As a General Store Assistant at Kurt Geiger in Sandton, you’ll be pivotal in ensuring our customers enjoy a top-notch shopping experience. Your role will involve delivering excellent customer service, managing stock and cash with precision, and contributing to the overall success of the store.

What You’ll Be Doing
1. Cash Management Excellence
You’ll take charge of handling the cash desk functions, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This involves maintaining cash control and following banking procedures daily. Your goal is to ensure there are no cash variances and all manual transactions are recorded precisely.
2. Stock Control and Management
Effective stock management is crucial to our store’s success. You’ll follow stock management processes to keep inventory organized and ensure customer orders are promptly followed up. Weekly stock counts will be part of your routine, helping to maintain accurate records. Additionally, you’ll ensure the storeroom is kept in excellent condition and conduct a weekly shoe pairing exercise to keep our stock in order.
3. Delivering Outstanding Customer Service
Providing exceptional customer service is at the heart of this role. You’ll build strong relationships with both internal and external customers, ensuring their shopping experience is memorable. Your deep product knowledge will enable you to assist customers effectively and enhance their overall satisfaction with their purchases.
4. Administrative Duties
You’ll be responsible for various administrative tasks, including following procedures related to the cash desk and stockroom. Your attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining accurate records and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a retail environment.
- Qualifications: Completed Matric/Grade 12.
Skills and Competencies:
- Retail Administration: Understanding retail disciplines, including stock and cash management, is essential.
- Product Knowledge: A good grasp of the products you’ll be handling is necessary to assist customers effectively.
- Sales Skills: Ability to engage with customers and drive sales through effective selling techniques.
- Numerical Ability: Proficiency in handling cash and performing basic calculations accurately.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in cash handling, stock management, and customer service.
- Planning & Organizing: Ability to manage tasks efficiently and prioritize effectively.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to think critically and solve problems as they arise.
- Relationship Building: Skills in building and maintaining positive relationships with customers and team members.
- Influencing Others: Ability to guide and persuade customers to make purchasing decisions.
