Requirements
- Education and Certification: A Grade 12 Matric certificate is required, along with a minimum of Grade C, D, and E Security Certificate and a valid PSIRA registration.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Security Guard is essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using security equipment and a solid understanding of wildlife crime are critical.
- Driving License: A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
- Physical Fitness: You must be physically fit and willing to undergo a physical fitness assessment.
- First Aid Knowledge: A strong understanding of first aid procedures is required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective reporting and coordination.
- Firearm Competency: While not mandatory, knowledge of firearms and firearm competency will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
As a Security Guard, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Securing the Park: Protecting the park and its infrastructure from emergencies, violence, or any suspicious activities.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Keeping a vigilant eye on the premises, detecting unusual occurrences, and reporting them to the Shift Supervisor, Security Supervisor, Chief Security Officer, or Protection Services Manager.
- Access Control: Managing entry and exit points to ensure only authorized personnel and vehicles gain access.
- Patrols and Inspections: Conducting random patrols, inspecting vehicles for illegal activities, and ensuring the integrity of the park’s resources.
- Crowd Control: Providing physical security at gates, managing parking, and ensuring orderly conduct during events or peak visitor times.
- Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of individuals entering and exiting the park.
- Emergency Response: Being prepared to respond to emergencies, provide first aid, and take swift action to mitigate risks.
