Purpose of the Role
In the Shop Assistant/Cashier role, your main objective will be to provide exceptional service that enhances the customer shopping experience. You’ll be involved in stock replenishment, merchandising, and the efficient processing of transactions at the till. Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating the products they’re looking for.

- Cashier Duties:
- Efficiently process cash and card transactions at the till, ensuring accuracy with every sale.
- Handle lay-bys and process customer refunds as necessary.
- Report any discrepancies or issues to your supervisor and assist with till balancing at the end of your shift.
- Merchandising Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all stock is correctly priced and attractively displayed to entice customers.
- Maintain a well-stocked and organized sales floor, ensuring popular items are readily available.
- Stay updated on current promotions and effectively communicate these to customers.
- Risk Management:
- Tag products in accordance with company policy to prevent theft and loss.
- Participate in regular stock takes to help maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Be vigilant, reporting any suspicious behavior or potential shoplifting incidents to management promptly.
