What You’ll Learn
As an Apprentice Level 1, you’ll be immersed in a wide range of tasks that are critical to the functioning of automotive systems. This role will not only help you build your technical skills but also give you insight into the inner workings of vehicles.
- Cylinder Head Maintenance: You will learn how to remove, recondition, and replace cylinder heads, a vital part of the engine that affects performance and efficiency.
- Engine Block Work: Get hands-on experience dismantling, servicing, repairing, and assembling engine blocks along with their main components. Understanding these processes is crucial for any aspiring mechanic.
- Fuel System Components: You’ll develop the ability to remove, diagnose, and replace various fuel system components, ensuring that vehicles run smoothly and efficiently.
- Basic Electronics: As vehicles become increasingly advanced, understanding basic electronics will be essential. You will learn about the electrical systems in cars and how they interact with mechanical components.
- Ignition System Testing: You will gain practical skills in testing ignition system components, an important part of ensuring that engines start and run effectively.
- Engine Efficiency: Study the fundamentals of engine efficiency and forced charging systems. This knowledge will help you appreciate how performance can be optimized in modern vehicles.
- Electrical Component Repair: You will learn how to move, test, repair, and replace electrical components, which is vital in maintaining vehicle functionality.
- Clutch and Transmission Work: Gain experience in removing and replacing clutch and transmission components, which are crucial for the vehicle’s performance and drivability.

What We’re Looking For
- A Grade 12 education, with a focus on Pure Maths and Science. This foundation will prepare you for the technical challenges ahead.
- An accredited tertiary qualification related to the role, which will help you grasp the complexities of automotive systems.
