Key Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning and Maintenance
- Perform comprehensive cleaning of laboratories, offices, restrooms, and common areas
- Disinfect high-contact surfaces including door handles, light switches, and workstations
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces, including elevated windows
- Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and applying appropriate treatments
- Properly dispose of waste following biohazard protocols
Specialized Cleaning Procedures
- Select and use appropriate cleaning chemicals for different surfaces and environments
- Follow NHLS safety guidelines when handling cleaning agents and equipment
- Assist with specialized waste disposal procedures
Health and Safety Compliance
- Utilize proper personal protective equipment as required
- Report maintenance issues and equipment malfunctions
- Adhere to infection control protocols
Teamwork and Communication
- Collaborate with facilities management staff
- Interact professionally with all staff members
- Maintain confidentiality in a healthcare environment
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Education
- Grade 10 certificate (required)
- Grade 12 certificate (preferred)
Experience
- 1-2 months of cleaning experience (formal or informal)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
