About the Role:
Premier Meadowview Depot in Lords View, Gauteng, has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Trainer Driver.
In this crucial role, you will be responsible for assessing and training drivers within our Milling division. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all drivers are well-prepared, knowledgeable, and adhere strictly to safety procedures. Your contribution will play a key part in maintaining our commitment to excellence in transport and logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driver Assessment and Screening:
- Conduct thorough assessments and screenings of new drivers joining our Milling division. This includes evaluating their driving skills, knowledge of safety procedures, and overall suitability for the role.
- Driver Training:
- Lead training sessions for new drivers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. Your training will ensure they are ready to hit the road with confidence and competence.
- Provide ongoing training for current drivers to ensure they stay updated on the latest safety protocols, driving techniques, and company policies.
- Defensive Driving Training:
- Implement and promote defensive driving techniques among our drivers, helping them to anticipate and avoid potential hazards on the road.
- Safety Procedures Implementation:
- Ensure that both driver and vehicle safety procedures are fully implemented and followed at all times. This includes regular checks and updates to safety protocols to align with industry standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of driver documentation, including licenses, Professional Driving Permits (PDPs), and other relevant certifications.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on driver performance, training outcomes, and any incidents or accidents.
- Investigate accidents involving company vehicles, compile detailed reports, and make recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
- Upskilling and Certification:
- Facilitate the upskilling and certification of Sales Assistants within the Inland region, ensuring they meet the required standards for driver safety and competence.
- High-Risk Driver Management:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of high-risk drivers, particularly those in the Inland region. Provide targeted training and support to address areas of concern and improve their driving performance.
- License and Traffic Fine Management:
- Act as the company representative for truck licenses and traffic fines, ensuring all matters are handled efficiently and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Engage with drivers regarding speeding reports, providing feedback and corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background:
- A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Professional Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in general office administration.
- Proven experience in data capturing and report writing, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in driver and vehicle safety, including accident investigations and handling employee relations and disciplinary actions.
- A valid Code 14 driver’s license with at least 5 years of driving experience and a valid PDP.

- Strong conflict management skills to handle disputes and disagreements effectively.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities to effectively articulate information and directives.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in assessments, documentation, and reporting.
- The capacity to perform effectively in high-pressure situations and adhere to stringent deadlines.
- Good administrative skills to manage documentation and reports efficiently.
- A team player mindset, with the ability to collaborate and support colleagues.
- Flexibility to work on Saturdays if required, with the willingness to travel when necessary.
- Own transport is required for this role.
