Our company is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our team in Boksburg. The primary goal of Leroy is to create a safe working environment that complies with legal standards and to cultivate a culture that prioritizes health and safety among all employees.

Leroy Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development and Maintenance:
    Develop, implement, and continuously update the company’s Health and Safety Policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards.
  2. Health Monitoring:
    Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure employees in safety-sensitive positions are medically fit to perform their duties.
  3. Risk Assessment:
    Regularly review and update the company’s health and safety risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and safety statements to reflect current conditions and regulations.
  4. Training and Induction:
    Conduct comprehensive safety induction training for all new staff and subcontractors, maintaining detailed records of the training sessions.
  5. Accident Investigation:
    Promptly investigate, document, and report all accidents and incidents, implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  6. Safety Drills:
    Conduct quarterly health and safety drills to ensure all employees are well-versed in emergency procedures.
  7. Compliance Reporting:
    Ensure that all accidents are reported to the relevant regulatory bodies, such as the Department of Labour, and monitor the recording of operational incidents.
  8. Statutory Training:
    Oversee the scheduling and delivery of statutory training to employees, ensuring they hold valid certifications.
  9. PPE Management:
    Ensure that the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is always available and used appropriately by staff.
  10. Subcontractor Safety:
    Review and ensure that subcontractors’ safety statements are compliant and that they adhere to the company’s safety policies.
  11. Meeting Attendance:
    Attend regular health and safety meetings, ensuring that all discussions are properly documented and actions are followed up.
  12. Reporting:
    Compile and submit monthly health and safety reports to Adeo structures.

Requirements:

  • A recognized, completed 3-year tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related field.
  • A thorough understanding and proven experience in the Health & Safety function.
  • 3-5 years of solid Health & Safety experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possession of a SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Certificate).
  • Exceptional diligence and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Outstanding communication abilities across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Capability to operate in an unstructured and ambiguous environment.
  • Proactive approach to anticipating and preventing accidents or incidents.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
