Key Responsibilities Of Health and Safety Officer
- Health and Safety Management: Coordinate and oversee health and safety procedures and practices at work sites, ensuring they align with company policies and legal requirements.
- Compliance Monitoring: Regularly assess and ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and all other statutory safety regulations.
- Investigations and Audits: Conduct unannounced safety inspections, audits, and investigations to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, audits, and inspections. Ensure all administrative requirements are met on time.
- Food Safety: Collect food samples and ensure food safety procedures are followed according to quality assurance (QA) documentation.
- Training and Awareness: Promote and maintain awareness of health and safety regulations across all staff levels, ensuring continuous education on safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Grade 12 certificate (essential) and tertiary qualification (preferable).
- Health and Safety Certification: SAMTRAC and/or a recognized Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of managing SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) systems.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSH Act policies and procedures.
