Candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
- PSIRA Grade C Registration (Compulsory)
You must be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) at Grade C level. - Matric / Grade 12 Qualification (Compulsory)
Applicants must have successfully completed their Grade 12. A senior certificate is a fundamental requirement. - Firearm Competency Certificate (Business Purposes)
Candidates must possess a valid firearm competency certificate, issued for business purposes, as this is an armed position requiring full responsibility and legal compliance. - Valid Police Clearance Certificate
A clear criminal record is essential. All applicants must provide a valid and current police clearance certificate. - Previous Experience in the Security Industry
At least two years of relevant experience within the security field is required. You should have strong knowledge of operational procedures, incident response, and access control. - Effective Communication Skills
Both verbal and written communication in English are vital for writing reports, relaying instructions, and managing public interactions in a professional manner. - Strong Command of the English Language
A good grasp of English grammar and comprehension is necessary for safety reporting, incident documentation, and verbal coordination. - Ability to Perform Under Pressure
Security environments are fast-paced and unpredictable. Applicants must remain calm, focused, and decisive in high-pressure situations. - Resident of Nearby Areas
Due to the nature of this position, preference will be given to candidates who reside in or near the deployment areas – Daveyton, Brakpan, and Dunswart.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Grade C Armed Security Officer at PRASA EAST, your duties will include:
- Safeguarding commuters, staff, and property within PRASA premises.
- Conducting regular patrols, access control, and perimeter checks.
- Acting as a visual deterrent to crime and unlawful behavior.
- Responding swiftly and effectively to alarms, security breaches, or emergencies.
- Handling firearms responsibly and in strict accordance with company and legal guidelines.
- Completing accurate incident reports and daily shift logs.
- Assisting law enforcement when necessary and providing reliable witness statements.
- Maintaining a high level of personal discipline and professionalism at all times.
- Ensuring all issued equipment, including firearm, radio, and uniform, is maintained in excellent condition.
