Your Role as a Food Services Assistant
As a Food Services Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, maintaining hygiene standards, and delivering top-notch service. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Food Preparation and Service
- Assist chefs and cooks in preparing meals, focusing on salads, desserts, and cold dishes.
- Plate and arrange food attractively on serving lines, ensuring portions meet guidelines.
2. Hygiene and Cleanliness
- Adhere to strict hygiene protocols, including regular handwashing and surface sanitization.
- Clean kitchen equipment, canteen tables, and work areas after each service.
- Dispose of food waste responsibly and maintain organized storage spaces.
3. Customer Interaction
- Engage with customers courteously, addressing inquiries about menu items or dietary needs.
- Report customer feedback or complaints to supervisors for swift resolution.
4. Team Collaboration
- Train new team members on food safety practices and service standards.
- Participate in shift handovers, ensuring seamless transitions and accurate stock counts.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in additional local languages is a plus.
