Eskom: x10 Electrical Apprenticeship 2025

KwaZulu-Natal unemployed youth graduate are encouraged to apply for Eskom’s Electrical Apprenticeship Program. Ten motivated persons will receive a Trade Test certificate and practical experience.

What You’ll Do:

As an Electrical Apprentice with Eskom, you will undergo a structured and dynamic 3-year training programme that combines theoretical education and practical training. The focus of the programme is to equip you with the technical skills and knowledge needed to excel as an artisan within Eskom’s electrical distribution sector.

During this period, you will:

  • Participate in formal, classroom-based training at an accredited institution, where you will gain foundational knowledge in electrical theory, principles, and safety standards.
  • Work closely with experienced electricians and technicians on-site, providing you with real-world exposure and hands-on experience in maintenance and operations tasks within Eskom’s electrical distribution network.
  • Receive ongoing mentorship and guidance, helping you develop both technical expertise and soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and time management.
  • Learn and adhere to Eskom’s strict safety standards, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
  • Have the opportunity to work with a variety of tools, machinery, and electrical systems, helping you develop a diverse skill set.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will be required to pass a Trade Test, allowing you to achieve a formal trade certification in electrical heavy current. This certification will be an essential qualification for a successful career in the electrical field.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Achieved passing grades in English (40%), Physical Science (50%), and Mathematics (50%) in the twelfth grade.
  • A minimum score of 50% in mathematics, 50% in physical science, and 40% in English is required for the N3 Engineering qualification.
  • OR
  • Engineering in NCV Level 4, passing with 50% in maths, 50% in physics, and 40% in English
