Enaex is hiring a Code 10 Driver in the Northern Cape. This permanent position values safety and teamwork.

Role Overview

As a Driver for our company, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and timely delivery of explosives to customers in accordance with pre-specified time slots, as allocated by the Chief Inspector of Explosives. Your role will be vital to the successful transportation and delivery of goods, and you will be expected to follow strict safety guidelines and adhere to both public traffic and industry-specific regulations.

Your day-to-day tasks will include executing safe delivery processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, coordinating the offloading of products, and confirming that all delivery documents are signed and returned to the administrative office. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the delivery process by verifying the seals on explosives and ensuring that the vehicle and equipment are fully compliant and in working order before each departure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Timely and Safe Delivery:
    You will be responsible for ensuring deliveries are completed within the designated time slots. This includes planning routes and adhering to traffic regulations, especially the 80 km/h speed limit, to maintain the safe and on-time arrival of goods.
  2. Safe Execution of the Delivery Process:
    The safe handling of explosives is paramount. You will be responsible for following strict safety protocols during transportation and delivery. This includes executing offloading coordination, ensuring that all explosives seals are intact, and matching them to the relevant delivery documents.
  3. Vehicle Inspections:
    Before departing the magazine area each day, you must complete a thorough vehicle inspection sheet to confirm that the vehicle is in proper working order. This includes ensuring that all safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, are compliant with regulations.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    After completing each delivery, you will be required to sign the delivery documents and return proof of delivery to the Administration office for invoicing purposes.
  5. Compliance and Licensing:
    You must ensure that your vehicle’s license and your explosives operator’s card are up to date and remain valid. It is essential that all safety measures are in place, including checking that fire extinguishers and other compliance-related equipment meet industry standards.
  6. Customer Assistance:
    On-site, you may be asked to assist customers with offloading the product, ensuring that the process is completed safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Valid Code 10 (C1) Driver’s License: You must have a valid driver’s license for a light motor vehicle (Code 10 or C1) with a clean driving record.
  • Dangerous Goods Permit: A valid permit to transport dangerous goods is essential. You must be familiar with the specific handling requirements for hazardous materials such as explosives.
  • Experience in handling hazardous materials and emergency procedures (e.g., Hazchem) will be beneficial.
  • Psychomotor Testing: You must be prepared to undergo psychomotor testing to assess your reaction time, attention, and coordination when driving and handling hazardous materials.
