Job Overview

As a General Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting transport, stock handling, cleaning, and general office assistance. Key Responsibilities

The General Worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Vehicle and Area Maintenance:
    • Cleaning government vehicles to ensure they are maintained in good condition.
    • Keeping parking areas neat and organized.
  • Loading and Stock Handling:
    • Assisting with the loading and offloading of stock, furniture, and supplies.
    • Supporting logistical operations within the office or designated facilities.
  • Transport Office Assistance:
    • Providing administrative support to the Transport Office as needed.
    • Delivering and collecting vehicles to and from workshops for servicing.
    • Assisting with driving duties when required.
  • Operational Readiness:
    • Being available on standby to assist when emergencies or special requests arise.
    • Working after hours, evenings, or weekends when necessary.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Performing any other duties delegated by the Supervisor to support office and logistical operations.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • AET Level 4, Standard 7, Grade 9, or Grade 12 with six months’ relevant experience.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate in at least two languages.
    • Customer-focused and professional demeanor.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • A valid driver’s license is essential.
    • Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is an added advantage.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in transport operations, logistics, or similar roles is preferred.
    • Current or former EPWP participants and COVID-19 contract officials are encouraged to apply.
