Role Overview:
As an ECD Teacher at Junior Colleges Raslouw, you will play a vital role in shaping the early learning experiences of children. You will be responsible for creating an engaging, safe, and nurturing environment that encourages children to explore, learn, and develop. Your focus will be on maximizing the personal, physical, and psycho-social development of each child, preparing them for formal schooling and life beyond the classroom.
The role involves not only delivering lessons that stimulate young minds but also fostering a positive classroom atmosphere where children feel encouraged and inspired to learn. You will be working with a diverse group of students, and your goal will be to help each child reach their full potential in their early years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Academic Delivery: You will offer a future-prepared curriculum that is inspiring, challenging, and motivating for students. Your lessons will foster curiosity and creativity and make sure every child grows from where they began.
- Academic Assessment & Reporting: You will regularly monitor progress and development in your students and give feedback both to students and parents. They include the observation and reporting on academic achievements and thus generating areas that need further support.
- Student Behavior Management: You will establish a positive and respectful learning environment. Strategies of effective behavior management will be established to allow each child the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and supportive setting.
- School Brand Ambassadorship: In this role, you will serve as an ambassador for ADvTECH while representing the school and its values and standards. This includes presenting yourself professionally at all times, with strong character and integrity.
- Collaborating and communicating-Positive relationship is a crucial attribute with other people in your field, the parent, and in the broader society. In a nutshell, communication should be honest and respectful. All stakeholders involved in learning activities must communicate both within and out of class regarding the children’s needs.
- Health & Safety: The safety and well-being of your students will be of utmost concern. You will be in charge of following health and safety measures so that the learning environment is also safe for all.
- Administrative Tasks: You will have to perform several administrative tasks including lesson planning, report cards, and record keeping.
Qualifications & Experience:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
- Minimum Requirement: A post-matric certificate (NQF Level 5) in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or an undergraduate degree (NQF Level 6) in ECD or B.Ed. (Foundation Phase). If you have a degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) would be necessary.
- SACE Certification: You must be registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Police Clearance: A police clearance certificate is required for all applicants.
- Experience: At least 2-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in the ECD or foundation phase.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer and digital literacy is essential. Knowledge of educational technology will be advantageous.
- First Aid: A valid first aid certificate is required to ensure the health and safety of students.
