Responsibilities: What You’ll Be Doing
Depending on your assigned section (Public Works or Water & Sanitation), your role will involve general labour, equipment handling, and site maintenance work. Tasks are physically demanding and require teamwork and attention to detail.
Public Works Duties
- Tool & Equipment Management:
- Wash, clean, and maintain tools and equipment
- Load and offload tools and materials safely
- Stack and transport tools using proper procedures
- Worksite Preparation & Cleanup:
- Clear worksites of debris, rubble, and excess materials
- Assist in placing road signage and preparing equipment for tasks
- Road Maintenance Support:
- Compact materials such as crusher run and asphalt
- Guide hoisting and lifting activities safely with ropes or slings
- Communication:
- Report issues to supervisors
- Follow instructions during loading/off-loading operations and roadwork setup
Water & Sanitation Duties
- Support Plumbing Teams:
- Hold measuring tools and assist plumbers with site setup
- Excavation & Drainage:
- Dig trenches and remove blockages in manholes, pipes, and canals
- Clean drainage systems using hand tools and remove alien vegetation
- Infrastructure Preparation:
- Mix and lay concrete or mortar
