DHL Supply Chain JOb Vacancy As OHS, Environment, and Quality Officer

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a dedicated OHS, Environment, and Quality Officer to join our team in Boksburg, Gauteng. This is a full-time, permanent role in our supply chain division, where you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards in occupational health and safety (OHS), environmental management, and quality assurance.

About the Role
As an OHS, Environment, and Quality Officer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the implementation of DHL’s country-level safety, food safety, environmental, and quality strategies. Working closely with Country HSE Leads, you will ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory, customer, and local legal requirements. This role also emphasizes continuous improvement, employee engagement, and adherence to global standards like ISO 9001, ISO 22001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
Key Responsibilities
1. OHS, Environment, and Quality Oversight
- Act as the main point of contact for all matters related to OHS, environment, and quality assurance.
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, and sustainability through regular communication and active employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with DHL’s Safety-First Framework and Global Quality Standards, aligning with ISO certifications.
2. Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate monthly management review processes (MRPs) and conduct OHS, environmental, and quality management reviews.
- Review and improve operational procedures, leveraging OMS First Choice and sharing best practices.
- Support validation, qualification activities, and risk assessments, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for work instructions.
3. Compliance and Documentation
- Prepare, review, and distribute key operational documents, including standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Monitor compliance with customer quality agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to all applicable standards and requirements.
4. Training and Auditing
- Oversee operational training programs to align with DHL standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare for and support internal, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring any identified action plans are implemented effectively.
5. Performance Monitoring
- Track and analyze OHS, quality, and environmental sustainability metrics.
- Investigate non-conformances, develop action plans, and monitor their execution.
- Work closely with suppliers to assess performance and propose improvements.
6. Hazard and Risk Management
- Identify potential business risks, disruptions, or hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
- Enforce health and safety procedures while fostering a proactive safety culture.
What You’ll Need
Qualifications:
- Matric/Grade 12 – essential.
- IOSH Managing Safely Course or country equivalent.
- SAMTRAC Certification – a must.
- ISO certifications, including ISO 22001, ISO 9001, and BRC standards.
- Auditing qualifications are an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and deadline-driven mindset.
- Experience in logistics or warehousing.
- Proven ability to enforce health and safety protocols and identify workplace hazards.
