Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison: Crime Prevention Wardens (CPW) for 2024/2025

The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison is excited to invite applications for the position of Crime Prevention Wardens for a 24-month contract. This opportunity is available to individuals aged between 18 and 50 years.
Stipend: Inline with Public Employment Program (PEP) related rates.
Requirements:
- Education: A minimum qualification of Grade 12 (Matric) is required.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in both English and another official language of the province is necessary.
- Physical Fitness: Applicants must be physically fit and healthy, capable of carrying out the physical demands of the job.
- Criminal Record: A clear criminal record is mandatory.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage with the community, especially the youth.
- Personal Attributes: Must possess attributes like good communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Job Description:
The CPWs will be responsible for patrolling different areas to ensure safety, assist with traffic control, and manage crowd activities in schools where there are incidents of SAPS interventions, among other duties. These roles will involve engaging with local communities to foster relationships and promote a safer environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned areas to maintain order and establish a visible presence to deter crime.
- Collaborate with local police officers to address community safety concerns.
- Provide support in schools and other community settings to prevent and respond to incidents.
- Facilitate educational sessions to inform the public about crime prevention strategies.
- Ensure all activities are documented and reported as required.
Training:
Successful applicants will receive extensive training under the supervision of the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles.
Target Group:
This program is open to unemployed young people who meet the above requirements and are eager to contribute to their communities by promoting safety and preventing crime.
