Who We’re Looking For:
We need someone who’s not just skilled behind the wheel but also possesses the right qualifications and attributes to thrive in a dynamic educational environment. Here’s what we’re seeking:
- Educational Background: A Matric Certificate.
- Licensing: A valid Code 10 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar driving position.
- Presentation & Communication: A professional appearance and strong communication skills.
- Background Check: A clear criminal record.
What You’ll Do:
Learner Transportation:
- Safe Driving: Navigate a school vehicle along designated routes, adhering to time schedules to ensure students arrive and depart punctually.
- Student Care: Safely pick up and drop off students at assigned stops, ensuring their well-being throughout the journey.
- Field Trips: Transport students and teachers on field trips, planning routes and stops as needed, and ensuring a smooth experience.
- Discipline: Maintain order and proper discipline among student passengers, following school policies.
General Maintenance and Facility Support:
- Maintenance Requests: Address and manage maintenance requests for the school facilities, ensuring they are completed promptly.
- Daily Checks: Conduct daily inspections of facilities to ensure everything is in working order and report any issues.
- Facility Upkeep: Perform general maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, and notify the facilities manager of any major repairs needed.
- Consumables Management: Monitor maintenance and gardening supplies, informing the facilities manager when new items are required.
- Tool Management: Store and maintain tools necessary for maintenance and gardening tasks.
- Security and Traffic Support: Assist with security and traffic management around the school as needed.
Garden Maintenance:
- Daily Duties: Follow a daily work roster to maintain the school’s gardens, including grass and flower beds.
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Keep the garden areas clean and well-maintained, addressing any issues or needs with the facilities manager.
- Gardening Supplies: Check gardening consumables and inform the facilities manager about requirements.
Health and Safety:
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the bus to ensure it is in optimal condition.
- Mechanical Repairs: Report any mechanical issues and ensure the bus is serviced with fuel, oil, and other necessities.
- Safety Drills: Perform periodic safety drills as required by law and complete necessary reports.
- Cleanliness: Keep the vehicle clean and in safe operating condition.
- Training: Attend safety, first aid, and training meetings as required.
Record Keeping:
- Reports: Complete periodic mileage and other reports, including passenger counts, to keep accurate records.
