The cross-Border Road Transport Agency-BRTA hires two interns to capture and analyze data. This role offers valuable experience in law enforcement and supports South Africa’s transport sector.

Key Responsibilities:

As an intern in the Data Capturing & Analysis role, you will be expected to:

  1. Data Entry & Capturing:
    • Receive and accurately capture data from both internal and external stakeholders. This will involve ensuring that all data is entered into the system with high attention to detail and maintaining data integrity.
    • Ensure that all received data is appropriately categorized, logged, and stored for further analysis.
  2. Stakeholder Interaction:
    • Engage with both internal and external clients to clarify data points, resolve discrepancies, and address any queries related to the data. Your role will require clear communication and collaborative problem-solving to ensure data accuracy.
  3. Data Consolidation and Reporting:
    • Compile and consolidate data from various sources to generate analytical reports. These reports will help guide decisions regarding law enforcement operations, policies, and strategies.
    • Contribute to preparing regular performance and status reports that summarize key findings, trends, and insights from the data.
  4. Implementing Analysis Techniques:
    • Apply basic data analysis techniques to interpret the information gathered. You will support your team in providing actionable insights that influence planning and policy decisions.
    • Work with tools and software to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data and present your findings to the team.
  5. Database Maintenance:
    • Assist in the maintenance of databases, ensuring that data is up-to-date, well-organized, and easily accessible for future analysis.
  6. Support and Learn from the Team:
    • Collaborate with the data analysis and law enforcement teams to support ongoing projects and operations. This position provides a learning opportunity to understand the intersection of data science, technology, and law enforcement practices.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute insights to improve processes and outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Educational Requirements:
    A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Graduates with a strong foundation in data capturing, statistical analysis, and IT skills are encouraged to apply.
  • Technical Skills:
    Familiarity with data analysis software (such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, or other analytical tools) is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail:
    Strong attention to detail and accuracy in capturing and processing data.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities:
    Ability to identify issues in data and take initiative to resolve them.
  • Team-Oriented:
    Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Adaptability:
    Willingness to learn new skills and techniques while supporting ongoing projects.

Remuneration and Benefits:

The successful candidates will receive an all-inclusive annual remuneration package of R8,9040. While this is an internship position, it offers a valuable learning opportunity and exposure to the workings of law enforcement in the South African road transport sector.
