About the Role
As a Shop Assistant Cashier at Clicks The Leaping Frog, you will be at the forefront of our customer interactions. Your role involves more than just operating the cash register. You will be the friendly face who helps make each shopping trip enjoyable and efficient. Your responsibilities will include:
- Point of Sale Operations: You will handle all transactions at the point of sale efficiently and accurately. This includes scanning merchandise, processing payments, and applying any relevant discounts or rewards, like our clubcard benefits.
- Cash Handling: Safety is paramount, so you’ll be responsible for managing cash transactions securely and following our procedures to ensure accurate handling of funds.
- Promoting Clubcard: You will actively promote our Clicks clubcard to new and existing customers, helping us reach our clubcard participation targets while explaining the benefits and features to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Customer Engagement: Provide top-notch customer service by being approachable, friendly, and professional. You’ll act as a brand ambassador, always striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Merchandising and Housekeeping: Keep the store looking its best by maintaining high standards in merchandising and housekeeping. This includes ensuring displays are appealing and the store is tidy and organized.
- Product Knowledge: Stay updated on our product ranges, promotions, and store events to provide accurate information and recommendations to customers, helping them make informed purchasing decisions.
What We’re Looking For
- Mathematical Skills: You should be comfortable with basic calculations to handle transactions accurately.
- Retail Experience: While previous experience in a retail or FMCG environment is desirable, it’s your enthusiasm and willingness to learn that will set you apart.
- Customer Service Skills: A strong understanding of what makes for excellent customer service is essential. You should be ready to engage with customers in a positive manner and handle any inquiries or issues professionally.
- Technical Proficiency: Being computer literate and having good numeracy skills will help you manage the point of sale system effectively.
- Communication: Good communication skills are a must, as you’ll be interacting with customers, fellow team members, and potentially dealing with any issues that arise.

Minimum Requirements
- Experience: While previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment is preferred, a strong willingness to learn and grow is equally important.
- Education: A Grade 12 certificate is essential. Ideally, you should have at least 50% in Maths and English at Grade 12 level to meet our educational requirements.
