2. Quality Assurers (x951)

  • Location: Marking Centres across Gauteng
  • Reference Numbers:
    Positions are available at multiple schools including Alberton High School, Allen Glen High School, Hoërskool Garsfontein.

Package

Appointments will be made in line with the Personnel Administrative Measures (PAM) rates applicable to temporary education sector staff.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / National Certificate Vocational (Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification).
  • Eligibility:
    • Registered tertiary students,
    • Unemployed persons with one or more tertiary qualifications, or
    • Unemployed graduates.
  • Numerical Skills: Must have passed Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level.
  • Advantage: Second-year and above tertiary students will be given preference.
  • Experience: Previous experience as an Examination Assistant or Quality Assurer at District Offices, Marking Centres, or other administrative offices will be an added advantage.
  • Work Readiness: Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, as exam administration is time-sensitive and requires attention to detail.

Note: Persons currently writing the National Senior Certificate / Senior Certificate / AET examinations in 2025, those who have taken the VSP, and persons already employed elsewhere are not eligible to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The roles involve handling examination materials with care, ensuring accuracy, and supporting the marking process. Depending on whether you are appointed as an Examination Assistant or a Quality Assurer, your duties will include:

Examination Assistants (District and Head Offices)

  • Receiving, checking, and scanning scripts daily.
  • Addressing discrepancies in batches and reporting issues promptly.
  • Packing scripts correctly for dispatch to marking venues.
  • Ensuring each script bag contains two MP Flow Control lists and is labelled according to the correct venue.
  • Assisting with dispatching scripts to marking centres.
  • Archiving scripts after marking for future reference.

Quality Assurers (Marking Centres)

  • Receiving, controlling, and distributing scripts to marking teams.
  • Checking that all questions are marked and marks transferred accurately to the cover page.
  • Verifying totals and ensuring correct transfers to marksheets.
  • Addressing and correcting discrepancies with marking teams.
  • Reconciling scripts per subject, paper, and number sequence for archival after marking.

Both positions demand accuracy, efficiency, and integrity, as even small errors can affect the credibility of examination results.
