Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Bus Cleaner to join our workshop team on a three-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our buses are kept in pristine condition, both inside and out. This is not just about keeping the buses clean; it’s about contributing to the overall safety and satisfaction of our passengers. You will be reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, who will guide you through your daily tasks and ensure that you have all the support needed to perform your duties effectively.
Preference will be given to candidates residing in the Vaal Triangle geographical area, as it aligns with our commitment to supporting the local community.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bus Cleaner, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our buses. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Sweeping and Washing Buses: You will be responsible for thoroughly cleaning the exterior and interior of our buses. This includes sweeping floors, washing windows, and ensuring that all surfaces are free from dirt and grime.
- Reporting Body and Coach Defects/Faults: While your primary focus will be on cleaning, it’s important to remain vigilant for any defects or faults in the body or coach of the buses. You will be required to report any such issues to the Workshop Manager or Foreman immediately to ensure that necessary repairs can be made.
- Assisting with Other Workshop Duties: Your role will also involve assisting with other tasks as directed by the Workshop Manager. This could include helping with minor repairs or maintenance work, ensuring that all tools and equipment are kept clean and in good working order, and assisting other team members as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A minimum of Grade 12 is required for this position. This ensures that you have the basic educational foundation necessary to understand and carry out the tasks assigned to you.
- Experience: Previous experience in cleaning and other handyman work is essential. This experience will have provided you with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform your duties effectively. Experience in a similar role within the transportation industry would be an added advantage.
- Mechanical Exposure: While not mandatory, any previous experience or exposure to mechanical work will be considered a strong asset. This could include experience in a workshop or similar environment where you have been exposed to the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
Working Conditions
As a Bus Cleaner at Ipelegeng Transport Trust, you will be working under standard workshop conditions. This environment can be physically demanding, so it’s important that you are physically fit and capable of performing the tasks required. You will need to be comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and equipment, and you should always adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to ensure your own safety as well as that of your colleagues.
