Role Purpose
As a Storeman at Bidvest Prestige, your primary responsibility will be to manage the movement of stock in and out of our Distribution Facility. This includes maintaining precise stock levels on SAP, ensuring that all stock is received, issued, and accounted for accurately. Your role is crucial to the smooth operation of our supply chain, supporting the business by ensuring that all materials and supplies are available when needed and are managed efficiently.
Main Outputs
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring that our Distribution Facility operates smoothly and effectively. Here’s what you can expect:
- Stock Management: You will be responsible for receiving and issuing stock both physically and on SAP. This means keeping a close eye on the inventory to ensure that everything is accounted for and that stock levels are accurate. You will strive to achieve 100% stock accuracy, taking full accountability for the movement of stock within the stores.
- Purchase Order and Delivery Follow-Up: Keeping track of outstanding purchase orders and deliveries will be a key part of your role. You’ll need to ensure that all orders are fulfilled on time and that any delays or issues are promptly addressed.
- Housekeeping and Safety: Maintaining a clean and safe working environment is essential. You will adhere to proper housekeeping and safe stacking procedures, ensuring that the facility is always in compliance with safety regulations.
- Sourcing Replacement Items: Sometimes, items in the store become obsolete or need to be replaced. You will be responsible for sourcing replacement items and ensuring compliance with our materials management policies and procedures.
- Stock Takes and Documentation: Performing quarterly stock takes will be a critical part of your job. This involves counting all items in the store, comparing them to records, and filing issues and receipt slips. Accuracy in this area is essential to maintaining the integrity of our inventory system.
- Additional Duties: From time to time, you may be asked to undertake other related assignments or duties. This could include anything from assisting with special projects to stepping in to help out in other areas of the facility as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A Matric (Senior Certificate) is essential, and a Certificate in Administration or Customer Service will be highly beneficial. These qualifications will provide you with the foundational knowledge you need to succeed in this role.
- Experience: We’re looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience in a store environment. This experience will have given you the skills you need to manage stock, deal with suppliers, and handle the day-to-day operations of a busy store.
- Customer Service and Administration: Experience in customer service and administration is crucial, as you’ll be interacting with suppliers and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook is required. These tools are essential for managing inventory, communicating with suppliers, and keeping accurate records.
- Licenses: A Code B Driver’s license is an added advantage. While not essential, it will make it easier for you to manage deliveries and collections as needed.

- Planning and Scheduling: Strong planning and scheduling skills are essential for managing the flow of stock and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently.
