Position Overview:
As an Assistant-Safety Health Risk Officer, you will report directly to the Safety Health Risk Officer and collaborate closely with various departments. Your primary responsibility will be to provide administrative and operational support within the safety department, ensuring strict adherence to safety compliance standards and fostering a secure working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Implementation:
- Assist in the rollout and enforcement of health and safety policies, standards, and procedures across the organization.
- Ensure all safety initiatives align with company policies and comply with relevant industry regulations.
- Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Support internal and external safety audits, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Hazard Identification and Risk Mitigation:
- Provide input on strategies to minimize risks and improve workplace safety.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Assist in developing and coordinating emergency response drills and training programs.
- Act as a key member of the emergency response team, working closely with the Safety Manager during incidents.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation:
- Record and report safety incidents, near-misses, and injuries promptly and accurately.
- Support thorough investigations to uncover root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Safety Training and Awareness:
- Organize and facilitate safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees at all levels.
- Promote a culture of safety by advocating best practices and increasing awareness among staff.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and audits.
- Ensure all safety equipment and supplies are well-maintained and documented.
- PPE Management:
- Monitor compliance with PPE policies to ensure employee safety.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of three years of experience in fire safety, risk management, or a similar position is required, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of local fire and safety codes, emergency response protocols, and risk assessment practices.
