What Is the 2025 EPWP Sport, Arts, and Culture Mentorship Programme?
Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) is a national initiative aimed at tackling unemployment by offering temporary jobs and valuable skills training. For the 2025 cycle, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture is looking to hire Sport and Recreation Mentors, as well as Art and Culture Mentors, across all 13 districts in the province.
If you’re selected, you’ll sign a contract that runs until 31 March 2026, and you’ll receive a monthly stipend of R4,000.

There are 22 positions available per district, covering the following locations:

- Uthukela – DSACEPWP03/25
- Ethekwini South – DSACEPWP04/25
- Ethekwini North – DSACEPWP06/25
- Ilembe – DSACEPWP07/25
- Harry Gwala – DSACEPWP08/25
- Ugu – DSACEPWP09/25
- Umgungundlovu – DSACEPWP10/25
- King Cetshwayo – DSACEPWP11/25
- Umkhanyakude – DSACEPWP12/25
- Zululand – DSACEPWP13/25
Each district offers 22 posts, bringing opportunities to hundreds of unemployed individuals across the province.
Who Should Apply?
- Completed Grade 12 (Matric) or possess a relevant qualification
- Must currently be unemployed
- Must reside within the district where the opportunity is being advertised
This programme is targeted at youth who are actively seeking opportunities to gain experience while giving back to their communities.
What Skills Are Required?
While prior experience is not mandatory, applicants must have the following basic competencies:
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to perform administrative duties
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
These skills will help you perform your duties effectively and contribute meaningfully to the project outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
As a mentor, you will be entrusted with the following core duties:
- Monitor the progress of athletics and artist-related programmes in your local area
- Participate in Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) War Room meetings, contributing to integrated community development efforts
