Maintenance and Repair Specialists Needed for Critical Water Infrastructure
Johannesburg Water is currently seeking qualified Artisan Fitters to join our team on a 12-month contract basis. This vital role focuses on maintaining and optimizing the mechanical systems that keep Johannesburg’s water supply running smoothly.
About the Position
As an Artisan Fitter with Johannesburg Water, you’ll play a crucial role in:
- Ensuring reliable operation of water pump stations
- Maintaining pressure regulation systems
- Keeping essential water infrastructure functioning optimally
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
Equipment Maintenance
- Performing repairs on pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems
- Conducting scheduled maintenance according to established procedures
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues in water distribution systems
Operational Support
- Responding to emergency call-outs when required
- Providing feedback to control room operators
- Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities
Safety and Compliance
- Following all OHASA and SANS safety regulations
- Conducting regular toolbox safety meetings
- Ensuring proper use of protective equipment
Qualifications and Experience
Required Credentials:
- Grade 10 or N1 qualification
- Valid Fitter trade test certificate or equivalent NQF 4 qualification
- EB driver’s license
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 3 years working with industrial pumps and valves
- Familiarity with water system infrastructure
- Basic supervisory experience
