AFGRI invites aspiring artisans across South Africa to join our renowned apprenticeship programme, offering a unique opportunity to train and qualify as Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanics. With branches nationwide, AFGRI is a leader in agricultural services, committed to nurturing talent and providing hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment.
Programme Overview
Our 3-year apprenticeship programme is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in your field. Under the mentorship of seasoned professionals, you’ll undergo comprehensive training that includes:
- Practical Training: Hands-on experience at a Practical Training Institute, tailored to your specific discipline.
- Academic Development: Enrolment in college courses, including distance learning where necessary, covering essential subjects like Mathematics, Engineering Science, and Diesel Trade Theory.
- Product Training: Specialized training at the John Deere Training Facility in Boksburg and other industry-leading suppliers.
- Internal Training: Learn from our in-house specialists through targeted development sessions.
Throughout the programme, you’ll be immersed in multidisciplinary teams, gaining invaluable insights and practical skills that prepare you for a successful career as a Mechanic or Technician in the agricultural sector.
Responsibilities
As an AFGRI apprentice, your responsibilities will include:
- Learning to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment.
- Ensuring accurate stock control and inventory management.
- Delivering exceptional customer service.
- Participating in general workplace duties to support operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: Valid Driver’s License, Communication Skills, Admin Skills, and Computer Literacy.
- Educational Requirements: N2 subjects including Mathematics, Engineering Science, Diesel Trade Theory, and one of the following: Industrial Electronics, Engineering/Technical Drawing, or Motor Trade Theory. Candidates with a Matric Certificate may also be considered if they have passed relevant subjects such as Mathematics, Technical Mathematics, Physical Science, Technical Science, or Engineering Graphics and Design.
- Behavioral Competencies: Highly motivated, attention to detail, team player, goal-oriented, and deadline-driven.
